It’s interesting that this article comes out while I’ve been coping with my disturbance about Mr. Bloomberg’s wealth. His company’s recent purchase of BusinessWeek was a stark reminder of how rich he is and I’m seriously wondering whether he understands the plight that the city’s poor is going through. I’m not sure whether he’s interested in going to more New York galas with his friends or addressing the hunger, the economic strife millions of New Yorkers are going through, especially Latinos. I still believe he’s a good mayor but I’m happy El Diario has rejected the wealthy interests Bloomberg inherently represents. I hope this will be a humbling reminder that the Upper East Side is not his only constituency.
